Nigeria: Wizkid, French Montana collaborate on new song?

– Wizkid might have scored yet another international collaboration – This time, the Nigerian pop star is spotted with French Montana with whom a song has reportedly been recorded – Before now, Wizkid has worked closely in the studio and at performances with Drake, Chris Brown, Jidenna, Swizz Beats and Diplo among others Nigerian Afro pop star Wizkid is set to drop a new song with French Montana going by a video on Instagram. 

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, the short clip showing the African star and the American rapper and some friends was seen circulating online, lending credence to their new collaboration. The new song was produced by Legendury Beatz. With this, the Ojuelegba crooner continues to enjoy back-to-back successes as he sojourns into further greatness with his craft. 

The timeline of his international affiliations in recent times, from his collaborations to performances and tour appearances, has been impressive and noteworthy to say the least.


On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, the Starboy shared on Instagram photos with British-Nigerian music star Tinie Tempah in the Dominican Republic, and it got the fans buzzing. The song Mamacita dropped shortly after, with Wiz and Tinie delivering in style on the record. From June 5, 2016 to June 11, 2016, Wizkid joined Chris Brown on the One Hell Of A Night Europe tour and together they made the headlines yet again. 

These come on the heels of his collaboration with Drake on One Dance which has enjoyed critical acclaim, rave reviews as well as reaching the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, starting from May 10, 2016. Reports also say the Afro pop star is close to releasing his Sounds From The Other Side EP which will feature a number of international music stars like Chris Brown, Jidenna and a few other unconfirmed acts. 
The new wave in entertainment and pop culture has been incredible with Nigerian musicians getting more and more global recognition by the day.

For Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, it all started in 2015 after Skepta brought Drake’s attention to the Nigerian pop star by playing him the song Ojuelegba. This impressed the American rapper who later made a remix of the song in July 2015. By April 2016, the relationship had blossomed into a collaboration on the song One Dance off Drake’s new album, Views. One Dance is the 12th track on the album Views, the fourth studio album from Drake which was released by Cash Money Records, Young Money Entertainment and OVO Sound on Thursday, April 28, 2016. With this, Wizkid is sure gaining foothold in the global music scene and it presents many more opportunities for other pop artistes in Nigeria. 

Wizkid, formerly with EME records under Banky W, has managed to fly high in spite of being ruffled by a number of controversial issues such as baby mama dramas and allegations of song theft, among other things. The 25-year-old multi award-winning pop star and brand ambassador currently runs StarBoy Entertainment and has previously released two studio albums – Superstar and AYO.
